About me

I'm curious about a wide variety of sounds, from baroque to abstract, to modal to noise and many more, but I have to confess a weakness for atonal music.

Self-taught musician, I try to express the truth of who I am through some original and creative works.

For now, my performances as soloist and sideman are focused on free improvisation, and as leader I am exploring the ephemeral composition process with a couple of new projects on the go.

So stay tuned !

I'm also involved in artistic collectives as "Nos Namajs", "DADALA" or "Graphic Ships" and I regularly collaborate in local as well as long-distance projects with musicians, dancers, poets, photographers and other artists.

Biography

André Darius (basses, voice, objects), born in 1976, comes from the French South-East.

At 16 years old, after a short classical education on mallet percussion instruments, period in wich he was introduced to the european contemporary music, he began to learn playing piano, guitar and bass by himself.

He has became an active musician in the early 90's and went throught that decade mainly by playing rock, jazz-fusion and folk music with local bands.

During the 2000s, the necessities of life has kept him away from any serious musical activities. But in 2011, new technologies and meetings with some "libertarian" musicians offered him the opportunity to resume his sound explorations... He took that chance to set his mind on free-form music.

Since then, he has been involved in different european and internet based projects mixing sound/poetry/dance and motion design. He has also collaborated and recorded many albums with artists and labels from all around the world...
